Define structure, dimensions, board and finishing before tooling to reduce errors and waste.
Start with the product
Record the product dimensions, weight and how it will be inserted and removed. Define usable internal dimensions, clearance and any insert. Auto-lock, glued-bottom, sleeve and handled cartons differ in strength, assembly time and board consumption.
Board and creasing
Caliper, stiffness and grain direction affect folding and shape retention. Test a full-size white sample and check crease cracking and tab closure. Lamination, foil, embossing and windows must be planned before the dieline is approved.
Artwork and dieline
Keep cut, crease, perforation and glue areas on a separate technical layer. Move text and barcodes away from folds and edges, then set bleed against the approved dieline. Approve one numbered file version and a printed sample before the full run.

Can you quote without a dieline?
An estimate is possible, but a final quote needs the open structure, quantity and finishes.
Should I send internal or external dimensions?
Send both: internal for product fit and external for shipping and storage.
